I need to make a correction – we stayed in Ashland VA – not Ashville. Now onto our travels since VA. We spent a couple days in Lumberton, NC. where we sampled the local seafood fare at Pier 51. Jeff really loves Hush Puppies!

From NC we headed to Kingsland GA. There we were able to find a state park – Crooked River State Park (interestingly located by Kings Bay Submarine Base). Took the dogs for a stroll through the park woods and down to the Crooked River.
From GA we made our way to our final destination – Bushnell, FL. Here we have been staying at Red Oaks RV Resort. Took care of business – I am now officially a Florida resident (Jeff will be soon)! Have been able to spend some time with some friends of my Dad’s as well. Today, Friday the 13th, is the first day we became tourists and took an Air Boat ride on Lake Panasoffkee – gator hunting.
We did get to see some birds, turtles, and alligators.
The bird below and the alligator spent time looking and yelling at each other. I believe the bird was saying – ‘I dare you to get me’ and the alligator was saying – ‘you just wait’.
Even got a chance to hold a baby gator!

And this little Hummingbird was tough to catch a picture of.

After watching all these gators, Jeff and I just had to try gator bites – interestingly, they taste close to chicken. However we did not venture into the frogs legs and catfish bites – maybe next time.

Till next time!
Looks like you two are having fun. Hope all is going well. No need to worry about snow anymore for now. We will finally be getting our warm weather by the middle to end of this week but you may already be aware of that because I know you have the wedding in May and you may already be up this way.
Take care, Mad Dog and Sue
